Project Description
The USAID Nepal Sajhedari STF project seeks an
experienced driver to fill the position of Driver on the project. Sajhedari STF
is a six-year technical assistance project that aims to support the Government
of Nepal (GoN) in the transition from a unitary state to a three-tiered federal
system. This support will be focused on achievement of the following
objectives: (a) t he GoN creates sound policies and legislation that empower,
finance and regulate provincial and municipal governments; (b) p rovincial and municipal
governments are more responsive, accountable, transparent and effective; and
(c) c itizens and civil society organizations in the target municipalities are
more involved in local decision-making and oversight.
Job Summary
Abt Associates seeks a qualified Driver to support
Nepal Sajhedari STF project in Dhangadi, Nepal. Driver will be responsible for
operating and maintaining motor vehicles for the transportation of project
staff, consultants, and/or counterparts on project business.
Key Roles and Responsibilities
· Operate a passenger
motor vehicle in accordance to transport project personnel and official
visitors
· Maintain vehicle in
clean and serviceable condition and perform daily an routine preventive
maintenance
· Ensure that vehicle
is operated in a safe, secure manner at all times
· Maintain an
accurate vehicle log book for all trips
· Perform daily
inspection of vehicle including tire pressure, oil and water levels
· Report any
incidents, accidents or injuries immediately to supervisor
· Quickly notify supervisor
about any major repairs and maintenance needed on vehicle
· Follow all driving laws and regulations
· Deliver documents
and conduct general business on behalf of the project when required
· Represent the
project in a professional manner, using a courteous, helpful style of
communication
Preferred Qualifications
· A high school
diploma or equivalent
· A minimum of one
year experience as a professional driver. Experience with USAID-funded projects
or other INGOs is preferred
· Must have a valid
driver's license appropriate to type of vehicle operated
· Must be familiar
with local traffic laws and area traffic patterns
· Fluency in Nepali
and basic English
